Ahead of the AI Summit, PM Modi meets Macron and JD Vance at dinner in Paris
Digital desk: Ahead of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit, French President Emmanuel Macron gave a welcoming dinner at the Elysee Palace for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Paris on Monday. Mr. Macron gave his "friend" PM Modi a hearty embrace when he arrived.
PM Modi met US Vice President JD Vance at the venue, along with several other foreign leaders who will be attending the AI Summit. This was the first time the two leaders had met since Mr. Vance took office last month. Additionally, pictures of the three leaders communing during the welcome dinner were released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The Indian community also welcomed PM Modi wholeheartedly when he arrived in Paris.
PM Modi is visiting France for the sixth time.
PM Modi stated in his departure statement that he and his "friend" President Macron would have the chance to discuss the status of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for India-France strategic partnership during the bilateral portion of his visit.
PM Modi and President Macron will go to Marseille following today's AI Summit, where the latter will throw a banquet in PM Modi's honor. The two presidents will honor Indian soldiers who served and lost their lives in World War I at the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille on Wednesday. Many Indian soldiers who served in France during the war are buried in the Mazargues War Cemetery, which is managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Additionally, the Consulate General of India in Marseille will be inaugurated jointly by the two leaders.
An important visit to Cadarache, the location of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a large joint scientific project aimed at developing clean nuclear fusion energy in which India is a vital partner, will mark the end of PM Modi's tour of France.
