Annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Scheduled for June-August, MEA Invites Registrations
Digital Desk: The Government of India has announced that the annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will be take place from June to August this year.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the yatra will be conducted via two routes — the Lipu-lekh Pass in Uttarakhand and the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim.
Pilgrims will travel to the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, revered by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains.
The pilgrimage had resumed last year after a hiatus of nearly five years, marking a step toward normalisation of ties between India and China.
It was initially suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak and later remained halted amid the military standoff along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
For 2026, a total of 20 batches have been planned. Ten batches, each comprising 50 pilgrims, will travel via the Lipu-lekh route, while another ten batches of 50 pilgrims each will undertake the journey through Nathu La in Sikkim.
The MEA has opened an online portal for applications, with the selection process to be conducted through a computer-generated, random and gender-balanced system. Applicants have the option to choose either one or both routes, indicating their preference.
The last date for registration has been set as May 19.
