Big move by Chief Justice Surya Kant Declares Sikkim Judiciary now fully paperless state

Digital Desk: In a landmark move towards digital governance, the chief justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, on Friday declared Sikkim as the country’s first fully paperless state judiciary.

The announcement was made during a two-day conclave on technology and judicial education held at Chintan Bhawan in Gangtok.

The initiative marks a major milestone in the modernization of India’s judicial system, with Sikkim courts now adopting a completely digital and virtual framework for case management and proceedings.

The transition to a paperless judiciary is expected to significantly improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility, reducing delays and streamlining court processes across the Himalayan state.

The event brought together judges and justices from several high courts across the country.

The conclave was attended by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, along with international judicial dignitaries including Rony James Govinden – the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Sey-chel-les, and Mohammad Dhilip Nawaz Abdul Hameed, judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
