This latest earthquake occurred only days after a devastating 7.7-magnitude tremor slammed Myanmar on Friday, causing severe havoc. More than 1,600 people have been declared dead and numerous others injured.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) warned that based on preliminary estimates, the total death toll might approach 10,000.
According to Myanmar's military junta, at least 68 people remain missing in the Mandalay region, which was the epicenter of the big earthquake.
As rescue efforts continue, the junta has issued an appeal for foreign assistance.
