US SC rejects Tahawwur Rana’s extradition stay plea
Digital Desk: Tahawwur Rana, the accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, is anticipated to be extradited from the United States to India.
This comes after the US Supreme Court denied Tahawwur Rana's stay request against his extradition to India.
It may be mentioned here that US President Donald Trump in February approved the extradition of Rana to India.
It is known that 64-year-old Tahawwur Rana is connected to terrorist David Headley of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Rana is incarcerated in a Los Angeles facility at the moment.
He had submitted an urgent request for a stay to the Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court.
Following President Donald Trump's support of the extradition of a Rana, his request was rejected.
Rana is wanted by Indian investigation agencies for his alleged role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
However, Rana contended in his appeal that both US law and the UN Convention Against Torture are violated by his extradition to India.
Rana stated in the appeal that he would be at risk of torture if extradited to India.
