Fit India Icon and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion Sangram Singh all set for 2nd MMA Competition in Poland
Digital Desk: Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion and Fit India Icon Sangram Singh has confirmed his participation in the forthcoming international competition in Poland in the 83-90 kg class, marking his eagerly awaited return to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
The 40-year-old athlete is still working to dispel age-related preconceptions in professional combat sports. He is the first fighter in the world to compete in mixed martial arts (MMA) at the age of 40 and the first Indian male wrestler to win an international MMA battle.
Singh's first victory at the Gama International Fighting Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia, against a Pakistani opponent in 90 seconds, places him among the finest fighters who transition to MMA in their late thirties and beyond, demonstrating that athletic prowess is not age-dependent.
Singh, who is from Rohtak, exemplifies the Fit India movement by overcoming wheelchair dependence due to rheumatoid arthritis to achieve international MMA success. His impending tournament in Poland inspires the worldwide sports community, particularly young athletes dealing with age-related challenges.
Singh is preparing for a tournament in Poland by following a unique training routine that combines traditional Indian wrestling with modern MMA conditioning. His diet is fully vegetarian, with rotis, seasonal vegetables, and Ayurvedic supplements.
Specifics about the Poland competition and Singh's opponent are not yet known. Notably, Singh holds the record for the fastest victory by an Indian fighter in international competition in the 93 kg division, winning on his MMA debut in Georgia in under 90 seconds.
