To combat obesity, PM Modi urges people to cut their oil use by 10%
Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised people to cut their cooking oil consumption by ten percent. On Sunday, the Prime Minister addressed the 119th episode of Mann Ki Baat, highlighting how obesity cases have increased in recent years.
"As mentioned in yesterday's #MannKiBaat, I would like to nominate the following people to help strengthen the fight against obesity and spread awareness on reducing edible oil consumption in food," PM Modi tweeted on X.
Oils are calorie-dense, having approximately 120 calories per tablespoon. When ingested in excessive quantities, oils can cause weight gain and obesity over time. Furthermore, if you take more fat than is required, it is easily stored in the body, leading to obesity.
Some methods to limit the consumption of cooking oil are:
Choose cookware that helps you use less oil. Teflon pans and vessels, which have nonstick properties, enable you to cook with less oil than traditional vessels.
To avoid overconsumption, cooking oil should be used sparingly. Instead of pouring directly from the bottle, measure out your servings.
Microwaving food is an effective strategy to reduce your intake of oils. Cut some vegetables, add some water, and cook in the microwave for a few minutes.
Try grilling, baking, and roasting. Grilling, baking, or roasting your meal can make it incredibly tasty.
Natural sources of more nutrients and less oil include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes and should be included in your diet in the appropriate amounts.
