RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra's Signature to be seen in Rs 100, and Rs 200 Currency Notes
Digital Desk: The Reserve Bank of India said on Tuesday that it will soon produce banknotes in the amounts of Rs 100 and Rs 200, which will now bear the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
However, as stated in the press release, "The design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 100 and Rs 200 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series."
All previous Reserve Bank-issued banknotes in the denominations of Rs 100 and Rs 200 shall remain legal tender.
Mr Malhotra took over as RBI Governor in December 2024, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, who left office after serving an extended tenure.
The issuing of new banknotes is part of the RBI's broader mission to maintain trust in India's monetary system.
