India’s Got Latent Row: Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchalani appear before Maharashtra cyber cell to record statements
Digital Desk: After skipping several summonses, YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchalani appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Police to record their statements in connection with an FIR on remarks made in one of the episodes of the now-defunct program 'India's Got Latent'.
Allahbadia and Chanchalani had previously consented to come before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and record their comments, reported Indian news agency ANI. In response to this development, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell summoned both YouTubers today.
After a case was filed against him in Guwahati, Assam, Chanchlani sought the Supreme Court to have his FIR transferred to Mumbai. On Friday, the Supreme Court combined Chanchlani's petition with Allahbadia's and sent notice to both Maharashtra and Assam. Allahbadia's lawyer notified the Maharashtra Cyber Police last week that his client would be unable to appear to record his statements due to death threats.
Maharashtra Cyber is looking into an obscenity case that was filed against Allahbadia and other people for allegedly making offensive comments on YouTube during the show.
