World Weightlifting C’ship 2025 - Proud India! Mirabai Chanu Wins Silver at 48kg category

Digital Desk: At the current World Weightlifting Championships in Førde, Norway, on Friday, Olympic medallist and professional lifter Mirabai Chanu of India won the silver medal in the women's 48kg division.

Making the nation proud, Chanu finished second overall with a total lift of 199kg.

It is to be noted that, North Korea's Ri Song-gum dominated the tournament, setting a record and winning all three gold medals. Additionally, she set a new personal world record by lifting 213 kg in total. With a lift of 198 kg, Thanyathon Sukcharoen of Thailand won the bronze medal.

This is yet another huge accomplishment for Chanu, who returned to compete after the Paris 2024 Olympics by earning gold at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships earlier this year.
