Digital Desk: Shubman Gill, who made a successful Test captaincy debut in England and won his maiden series against the West Indies at home, will make his ODI debut against Australia on Sunday (October 19). The second and third ODIs are set for October 23 and 25, respectively. Gill replaced Rohit as ODI captain.
Aside from Gill, former captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be in the spotlight, having returned to the Indian dressing room after a seven-month absence. Both Rohit and Kohli have retired from T20 Internationals and Tests. Shreyas Iyer, who was overlooked for the Asia Cup 2025, will be Gill's deputy in ODIs.
Three changes are made to Australia's ODI team. Marnus Labuschagne is the replacement for all-rounder Cameron Green, who has been ruled out of the series. Earlier, Matthew Kuhnemann replaced Adam Zampa, and Josh Philippe was replaced by wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, who is still recovering from a calf strain.
