Closure report filed for Sushant Singh Rajput case, "No proof of foul " - CBI
Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted closure reports in two cases involving the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, according to sources.
The reports were presented to a Mumbai court, and no evidence was found to suggest foul play in his death.
The CBI took over the probe in August 2020, when Sushant's father, KK Singh, filed an FIR in Patna. He had accused actress Rhea Chakraborty and others of assisting suicide, committing financial fraud, and engaging in mental abuse. In response, Rhea Chakraborty filed a counter-complaint in Mumbai, claiming that Sushant's sisters procured a fraudulent medical prescription for him.
After years of investigation, the CBI has now filed closure reports in both instances, confirming that its investigation found no criminal conspiracy or wrongdoing that contributed to Sushant's murder.
Sushant, 34, was discovered dead at his Bandra home on June 14, 2020, igniting a massive controversy. The probe was eventually turned up to the Central Bureau of probe. His postmortem report, done at Mumbai's Cooper Hospital, concluded that the cause of death was suffocation.
Before the Bombay High Court hearing on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) involving his son Sushant Singh Rajput's death last month, KK Singh voiced hope for justice under the new Maharashtra government.
Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the CBI's investigation, saying the agency "didn't do its job on time." Singh has long claimed that Sushant could not have committed suicide. I hope whatever comes out of the court will be right," he said, maintaining his optimism regarding the judicial processes. And hopefully, it will be released shortly.
