Filmfare Awards 2025: Alia Bhatt wins Best Actress title for Jigra
Digital Desk: Alia Bhatt won another Best Actress award at the 70th Filmfare Awards for her role in Jigra. This was her sixth Filmfare award for Best Actress, breaking records and beating Kajol and veteran actor Nutan.
The 70th Filmfare Awards, hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, were held on Saturday at EKA Arena in Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad.
Alia Bhatt did not attend the ceremony, so Karan Johar accepted the award on her behalf.
Laapataa Ladies also took home 13 trophies, matching Gully Boy's previous record, and won the Best Film award. Alia Bhatt took home Best Actress, while Kartik Aaryan and Abhishek Bachchan shared Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male).
With nearly every nomination, Alia Bhatt has frequently led the Filmfare Awards. She has won Best Actress awards for Udta Punjab, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Gully Boy, and Raazi, but this time it's for Jigra. She took home the Best Actress (Web Original Film) prize at the 2023 Filmfare Awards OTT for Darlings.
In the meantime, Kajol and Nutan used to hold the record for the most Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. Each of the actors has previously received five awards.
Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Alpha, YRF's first action movie with a female focus, which also stars Sharvari. This year's Christmas holiday is the film's target release date. She will next be seen in Love & War, which also stars Vicky Kaushal and husband Ranbir Kapoor. The movie is scheduled for release in 2026.
