INDIA’S GOT LATENT: ASSAM POLICE SENDS TEAM TO MUMBAI FOR FURTHER PROBE

Digital Desk: The Assam police sent a team to Mumbai as part of the ongoing investigation in response to the controversial remarks made in the YouTube reality show “India’s Got Latent.”

Earlier, the Assam police on February 10 filed FIR charges against five prominent YouTubers and social media influencers for engaging in sexual and vulgar discussions.

The investigation follows an FIR filed against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and YouTubers Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday summoned the YouTubers as well as the show's producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, on February 17, expressing strong concern regarding the remarks made on the show.

The remarks that went viral on social media led to a massive uproar, not just from internet users but also from politicians, leading to an investigation into the matter. After the incident, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia apologized on social media for his remarks, acknowledging his comments were inappropriate and distasteful.

Speaking into the matter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on his X handle, announced that the Guwahati Police has filed an FIR against the YouTubers for promoting obscenity. Meanwhile, the Assam police and Mumbai police are working together to investigate the matter further.
