RCB victory celebration turns into stampede-like situation outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium; several feared dead
Digital Desk: Ten people are believed to have died, while 24 others, including a six-year-old girl, are said to have been injured as thousands of fans congregated outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4 to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru's triumph in the IPL 2025 tournament.
Moreover, death tolls are predicted to rise.
According to sources, seven of the deceased were carried to Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, while three others were transferred to Vaidehi Hospital.
Reportedly, fans were injured after a stampede-like situation broke out at Gate No.3 of the stadium, where the RCB team was supposed to arrive to celebrate their much-anticipated victory.
Several ambulances were seen taking patients to Bowring Hospital.
Authorities are already under pressure for neglecting the turnout and failing to take proper safety precautions, particularly after canceling the open-top bus parade earlier in the day.
Before the team was expected to arrive at the stadium, they were felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar at the Vidhan Soudha.
