Legendary marathoner Fauja Singh's death takes new turn; NRI arrested in hit-and-run case

Digital Desk: A 30-year-old NRI has been detained in a hit-and-run case following the murder of famed marathoner Fauja Singh.

Fauja Singh, the world's oldest marathon runner, died in a roadside car crash on Monday at the age of 114. He was born April 1, 1911, in Beyas village, Jalandhar district, Punjab.

The vehicle that hit 114-year-old marathon runner Fauja Singh on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway and sped away has been identified about 24 hours after the event, police said.

Earlier, police investigated CCTV footage and identified a Punjab-registered white Toyota Fortuner as being engaged in the hit-and-run, but the search for the driver was still ongoing.

This is a developing story; further deets are awaited.
