Mohammad Kaif takes dig at Jasprit Bumrah's fitness, says, "he's struggling physically, may retire from Tests"

Digital Desk: Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has suggested that Jasprit Bumrah consider retiring from Test cricket, as recurrent physical concerns appear to be limiting his effectiveness in the longest version of the game.

Bumrah, India's go-to fast bowler for a long time, appeared to be off his game in the ongoing Manchester Test, raising doubts about his fitness and future chances.

Injuries have plagued Bumrah's international career. Much of this is due to his unusual bowling action, which requires little run-up and puts a lot of strain on his back.

Despite having a strong start to the England tour, Bumrah's performance seems to have declined in the fourth Test. The pacer's return to the dressing room during the final Manchester session raised questions about his health. Bumrah's lack of pace during the game belies bowling coach Morne Morkel's claim that he was not hurt. He only bowled one delivery over 140 kph, which is unusual for someone who frequently reaches those speeds.

Following the current situation, Kaif suggested that Bumrah might be ready to quit the red-ball format.

Bumrah's slower pace during the Manchester Test was criticized by Kaif as a possible warning sign, saying that he is a self-sufficient person who might not give it his all if he doesn't think he can win for the nation or take wickets. As Indian cricket undergoes a transition after the departure of legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, he cautioned supporters of a Test future without Bumrah.
