23 BJP MLAs meet Guv amid popular government action ahead of PM Modi's visit to Manipur on September 13

Digital Desk: PM Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on September 13, sources announced on Sunday. This will be the Prime Minister's first visit to the conflict-torn state since the beginning of ethnic violence in May 2023.

According to sources, PM Modi will first visit Churachandpur to meet with internally displaced persons (IDPs) before traveling to Imphal by helicopter around noon, following an address to a public gathering at Kangla in the city.

As stated in insiders, the visit is timed to coincide with a critical political moment. There is growing pressure inside the BJP to build a popular government in Manipur, with party leaders hoping to use Modi's presence to bring about noticeable reforms in law and order and governance.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, BJP MPs led by former Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Party President A Sharda Devi met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan.

The meeting, attended by 23 BJP MLAs, lasted 40 minutes and apparently focused on ensuring the Prime Minister's visit was seamless and impactful.

The meeting with Governor Bhalla highlighted internal party dynamics before the government formation process, as both Assembly Speaker T Satyabrata and N Biren Singh, who are regarded as rival candidates for the Chief Minister's position, were present.

Both the Kangla Fort campus and Imphal International Airport are undergoing significant security and renovation projects. Due to increased security, a travel advisory has been issued advising travellers to arrive early.

More than 200 outside labourers are working at Kangla Fort to prepare the stage, which includes building a unique triangular platform.

Two metal detectors are used for frisks at the Kangla Fort gates, and personnel are on duty around-the-clock as part of the city's security measures. These plans highlight the significance of the Prime Minister's visit and Imphal's emphasis on security and grandeur.

In order to ensure the success of the visit, the governor reportedly asked the lawmakers for their cooperation.
