Digital Desk: Voting for the Dampa assembly bypoll in Mizoram's Mamit district is underway, with polling beginning at 7 am and continuing till 4 pm across 41 booths in the constituency.
The election, necessitated by the death of MNF legislator Lalrintluanga Sailo, is being held under tight security arrangements, with Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel deployed at polling stations and adjoining border areas.
The Dampa Assembly seat, which shares borders with Bangladesh and Tripura, has a significant minority population, including Chakma and Reang tribal communities.
The counting of votes will take place on November 14, along with assembly elections in Bihar and bypolls in other states.
