AMUL to set up a dairy processing facility with a capacity of 1 lakh liters per day in Assam

Digital Desk: In a series of innovative decisions targeted at economic growth and citizen welfare, the Assam Cabinet has approved the leasing of 20 bighas of land at the Institute of Farm Management Campus in Rani to AMUL for the establishment of a cutting-edge dairy processing plant.

The factory, with a projected capacity of 1 lakh litres per day, will be created at an estimated cost of ₹75 crore, which may increase to Rs 150 crore in later phases.

This effort is part of the MoU inked during Advantage Assam 2.0 and is expected to help around 20,000 dairy producers in the state.

To promote food security and affordability, the cabinet approved the delivery of subsidised Masur Dal, Sugar, and Salt to NFSA beneficiaries.

The program will launch starting in assigned districts in October 2025 and spread to all districts in November 2025.
