Assam: ‘Kokrajhar’ to host Durand Cup trophy ceremony on July 15

 

Digital Desk: Football fever takes grip in Assam's Kokrajhar as the vicinity prepares to host the coveted Durand Cup Tournament in 2025.

The 134th edition of the football competition will be conducted from July 23 to August 23 in six cities: Kolkata, Kokrajhar, Shillong, Imphal, and Jamshedpur.

On July 4, President Droupadi Murmu revealed the Durand Cup Tournament 2025 trophies at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.

On July 15, the Durand Cup trophy exhibition ceremony will take place at Kokrajhar's Bodofa Auditorium.

Following the ceremony, the legendary trophies will go on a Trophy Tour across the Kokrajhar district, increasing public interest and excitement for the upcoming matches.

Kokrajhar will host Asia's oldest football tournament for the third time, from July 27 to August 16, 2025.

Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council; Nandita Gorlosa, Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare; Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister for Bodoland Welfare; Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding the Gajraj Corps; Major General Rohin Bawa, General Officer Commanding the Red Horns Division; and Major General Rajesh Arun Moghe, Vice Chairman of the Durand Cup Organising Committee, will attend this august ceremony.

The event, organized by the Indian Army's Eastern Command on behalf of the three Services, puts Services teams against some of India's finest football clubs.
