Digital Desk: With the ruling BJP-led NDA announcing Maharashtra Governor CP Radakrishnan as its candidate for election to the post of Vice President of India, reactions soon started to fly in, with ruling coalition MPs and legislators supporting the move, while several opposition parties raised questions about Radakrishnan’s RSS background.
On Sunday, the NDA declared CP Radakrishnan, the governor of Maharashtra, as its nominee for the September 9 vice presidential election.
The 68-year-old Radhakrishnan was chosen as the nominee following lengthy talks with the NDA partners, according to BJP national president JP Nadda.
He said that top BJP officials had also contacted opposition parties to urge them to back the NDA's candidate.
