Bangladesh to resume visa services after two-month hiatus from Tripura, Agartala

Digital Desk: The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Tripura's capital, Agartala, has announced that visa and consular services will resume on Wednesday, following a two-month suspension.

It ceased services on December 3, a day after the mission's buildings were broken into by a mob of individuals protesting the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In the aftermath of the event, three police officers were suspended, and Arif Mahamad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, was summoned to Dhaka.

"All visa and consular services of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission will resume on February 5," said Md Al Amin, First Secretary of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner's office here, in a note published Tuesday.

Following the December 2024 incident, police increased security at the mission, as reported by authorities.
