CP Radhakrishnan elected as India’s next Vice President
Digital Desk: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India on Tuesday. He secured a total of 452 votes.
The candidate of the ruling alliance, Radhakrishnan, faced off against Justice B. Sudershan Reddy, a retired Supreme Court justice and nominee of the INDIA bloc.
Members of Parliament used their right to vote in Parliament on September 9, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Following Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation from the position on July 21 due to health concerns, an election for vice president was required.
CP Radhakrishnan will now take over as the Rajya Sabha's Deputy Chairperson following this victory.
