Drug bust in Mizoram: Methamphetamine tablets worth ₹173.73 crore seized

Digital Desk: On Tuesday, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police confiscated ₹173.73 crore worth of methamphetamine tablets along the Indo-Myanmar border in the Champhai district. The Assam Rifles said the seized narcotics weighed 57.91kg.

"Based on precise intelligence about the trafficking of narcotics, the Assam Rifles and Zokhawthar Police set up an ambush at Crossing Point 1, Vokte Kai. "The joint team intercepted suspected individuals carrying an illegal consignment," as stated in the press communiqué.

However, the suspects left the consignment behind and fled out, later the police seized the entire supply of drugs.

The Assam Rifles, who are in charge of protecting 510 kilometers of the Indo-Myanmar border in Mizoram, have been actively working to stop illicit activity there.

To maintain strict security and surveillance along the porous border, three battalions, each with six Company Operating Bases, are under the command of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles Headquarters, which is situated in Aizawl's Khatla.
