Former Delhi Skipper Mithun Manhas elected as 37th BCCI president

Digital Desk: Mithun Manhas, former Delhi captain, was voted unopposed as the new BCCI president at the board's 94th annual general meeting. He is the BCCI's 37th elected president.

Manhas was the only candidate for the president's position, which has been vacant since former India all-rounder Roger Binny stepped down in August of this year.

Rajiv Shukla stays as vice-president, and Devajit Saikia remains board secretary. Raghuram Bhat, a former Karnataka and India spinner, has taken over as BCCI treasurer. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, the former treasurer, is the new joint secretary.

Manhas, who turns 46 in October, played domestic cricket for 20 years, from 1997-98 to 2016-17. He played 157 first-class games, scoring 9714 runs; 130 List A matches, scoring 4126 runs; and 91 T20s, scoring 1170 runs.

He was a member of the BCCI's subcommittee tasked with running the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. Man was born in Jammu and moved from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir in 2015 before retiring the following year.

He has worked as a coach for a number of teams, including the Bangladesh men's Under-19 squad, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Gujarat Titans.

Former India bowlers Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh have joined the senior national men's selection panel, replacing S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee.

The committee, led by Ajit Agarkar until October 2026, includes Ajay Ratra and SS Das among others. Sharath moves to the junior selection panel chairperson role, taking over from Thilak Naidu.

Additionally, Jaydev Shah has been appointed to the BCCI's Apex Council, succeeding Khairul Jamal Majumdar, who has joined the IPL Governing Council.
