Former J-K Governor Satyapal Malik, battling prolonged disease, passes away at 79
Digital Desk: On Tuesday, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satyapal Malik passed away at the 79.
His passing was verified by a post on his X account. After a protracted illness, the former Rajya Sabha member passed away at the RML Hospital in New Delhi.

Tomorrow, the cremation will take place at Lodhi Crematorium, and his body will be transported to his home in R K Puram.
Malik had a long history of diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, and other chronic health conditions like morbid obesity and obstructive sleep apnea, according to the RML Hospital, which confirmed the death.
In the 1970s, Malik began his career as an MLA. He switched parties during his fifty years in politics. He was initially elected on Chaudhary Charan Singh's Bharatiya Kranti Dal ticket and hails from Baghpat in western Uttar Pradesh.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1980 by the Lok Dal, which was led by Charan Singh. However, he joined the Congress in 1984, and in 1986, the Congress sent him to the Rajya Sabha.
With the repeal of Article 370, his one-year tenure as J-K Governor came to an end. He was the governor of Meghalaya and Goa as well.
