IPL 2025: High-octane teams KKR vs RCB Opening Match Likely To Get Jilted. Know the reason here
Digital Desk: A power-packed evening as the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders will face Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener on Saturday.
The inaugural event will also feature performances by Disha Patani and Shreyas Ghosal. However, just one day before the curtain-raiser, a devastating update arrived from Kolkata.
The weather department has issued an Orange Alert, indicating that the season's first match is at imminent risk of being called off.
South Bengal is predicted to experience rain and thunderstorms from Thursday through Sunday, with an Orange Alert issued for March 22, the first day of the 2025 Indian Premier League, and a Yellow Alert for Sunday. Accuweather predicts a 74% chance of rain and 97% cloud cover in Kolkata, with a 90% chance of rain in the evening.
It should be noted that one match at Eden Gardens has already been rescheduled. The Knight Riders' home game against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 would be moved to Guwahati since the police have stated they have no way to provide security for the IPL clash owing to 'Ram Navami' celebrations in the city on that day, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly told PTI.
The KKR-LSG match is likely to be a high-voltage match with major local backing and cheer.
