Digital Desk: The Kickboxing India League (KIL) Pro Open National, held in Siliguri, West Bengal, showcased impressive talent in low kick, full contact, and K1 events.

The competition, organized by the WAKO India Kickboxing Federation, saw three Meghalayan kickboxers win titles and cash prizes.

Miss Daniella I Wanda Mylliemngap from Upper Lumparing Lumdorbar Shillong won the -60 kg category, Juh Pa U Juh Nongtdu from Nartiang Main Road village won the -61 kg title, and Fedrick Khongsit from Laitkor Nongdaneng won the -54 kg Full Contact category. In addition to their title belts, they each received a cash award of Rs. 15,000.

There was fierce competition for the runner-up spots as well—Class X student Miss Ibankyntiew Iangrai of Mawdiangdiang and Pine Mount Higher School Shillong placed second in the -48 kg Low Kick competition, while Miss Careen Judy Kharkamni of Laitkor Nongdaneng, a student at Women's College Shillong, placed second in the -60 kg K1 Rules event. 

The Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) has named the winners of its national kickboxing championship. Since 2017, the squad, managed by General Secretary Fourwell Khongmalai and Coach Bantiplang Khongwir, has won 239 medals, 41 of which are international.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India, as well as the International Olympic Committee, acknowledges the sport as official.

The squad has also made a huge impact at the All India University Games (AIU Games), representing NEHU Shillong since 2019, winning 9 medals and highlighting the growing popularity of kickboxing in the region.
