Kevin Pietersen named Delhi Capitals mentor for the IPL 2025

Digital Desk: Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has been announced as the Delhi Capitals' mentor for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. On Thursday, February 27, the franchise announced on social media that one of their most sought-after former players would be returning to the team

Kevin Pietersen will work closely with the upcoming season's head coach, Hemang Badani. After parting ties with Ricky Ponting at the end of the IPL 2024 season, the Delhi Capitals completely overhauled their coaching setup.

Badani was involved in their auction process because the former India all-rounder was instrumental in getting several good bargains in last year's blockbuster auction.

Kevin Pietersen apparently has an excellent relationship with Delhi Capitals' co-owners, the GMR Group.

"I've got incredible memories of representing the Delhi franchise in the IPL, and it's great to be reconnecting with him as we begin a new chapter at this amazing franchise."

"I responded with a swift YES. It's a great opportunity to take on this new job as a mentor for the Capitals, and I'm looking forward to joining the team, working closely with the boys, and doing everything I can to help us win the championship," he said.

Pietersen also played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2009 and 2010, before joining the Capitals in 2012 and 2014. His greatest season in the IPL was in 2021 when he scored 305 runs, including a century for Delhi in 2012. Pietersen finished his IPL career with Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016.
