Manipur: Fierce Roadblocks in Kuki-Zo Dominated Districts Amid President’s Rule
Digital Desk: Amid President's Rule in Manipur, the Kuki-Zo Council's indefinite shutdown has begun in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur Districts, with protestors blocking roads and disrupting movement.
Enraged by Union Home Minister Amit Shah's decision to impose free movement of passenger vehicles, demonstrators have barricaded major roads with stones, burning tires, and other objects, creating tense standoffs with security forces.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) is in charge of the shutdown in Churachandpur, and the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) is enforcing it in Kangpokpi.
Moreover, protestors have warned that the agitation will intensify if their demands are ignored.
With highways blocked, transport crippled, and businesses shut, the situation remains tense, as security personnel monitor the escalating unrest.
