Manipur: JNIMS RDA boycott emergency services starting today
Digital Desk: The increase in yearly post-graduate course fees has exacerbated the protests of resident doctors at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).
The doctors began their boycott of emergency services at 9 AM on May 26, 2025.
This comes after they went on strike over a higher postgraduate course price.
The protest began on May 21, 2025, with the suspension of routine services by the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA), which represents 70% of the hospital's medical workforce.
The Resident Doctors' Association is demanding a rollback of the fee hike from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh introduced in 2022.
The RDA expressed disappointment over the authorities' failure to address their concerns despite ongoing negotiations since February 2025.
The association emphasized that the decision to boycott emergency services underscores their determination to secure fair educational costs for future doctors.
There is currently no indication of when regular services will resume, as the strike will last until the old fee structure is restored.
