In a major update in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, the family of Raja Raghuvanshi is mulling to approach the Meghalaya high court to challenge the bails that were granted to three co-accused in the case by a lower court.

This was informed by Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of deceased victim Raja Raghuvanshi.

Vipin Raghuvanshi is currently camping in Shillong to obtain Raja’s death certificate and access a copy of the post-mortem report.

He said that granting of bail to the accused has left Raja’s family deeply distressed.

It may be mentioned here that three accused — Lokendra Tomar, Balbir Shilom James — have already been granted bail by the Shillong district and sessions court.

Vipin expressed particular concern over Shilom James, who is accused of tampering with crucial evidence.

Despite the gravity of the charges, James was granted bail, which Vipin believes undermines the integrity of the justice system.

It may be mentioned here that the Meghalaya police have arrested as many as eight people in connection with the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case.

Currently, five accused in the case, including Raja Raghuvanshi's wife - Sonam Rahuvanshi, he alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha and three contract killers - are lodged at the Shillong jail.

Decomposed body of Raja Raghuvanshi was found on June 2, eleven days after he and his wife were reported to be missing.

Later on June 8 , Sonam surrendered before the police in Uttar Pradesh after being on the run for 16 days.

The Shillong police, while investigating the case, later arrested seven other accused in the case, including Sonam's alleged boyfriend, who is believed to be the mastermind of the crime.
