Meghalaya: CM Conrad K Sangma opposes Uniform Civil Code enactment in state
Digital Desk: Meghalaya government's big move on the adoption of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance administration has announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will not be implemented.
According to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, the UCC would not be implemented in the state, and the decision was made with the state's secular ethos and the identity of the many tribal people in mind.
CM Sangma further claimed that due to India's different customs and cultures, the application of the uniform code would be inappropriate.
Furthermore, he stated that a bill should only be accepted if it benefits the state.
