Mizoram: Heroin worth ₹1.84 Crore seized; 2 Myanmar Nationals Apprehended
Digital desk: On February 8, 2025, two Myanmarese nationals were apprehended by Assam Rifles and the Zokhawthar Police Department in a coordinated operation at the Vehicle Check Post on Melbuk Road Junction, Mizoram. Additionally, 247 grams of Heroin No. 4, worth around ₹1.84 crore, were recovered.
Following specific information about heroin trafficking in the region, the combined team initially arrested a suspect and, after conducting a thorough search, found 136 grams of heroin No. 4. An additional 111 grams of the contraband were recovered after a second person was detained later that day.
The confiscated drugs and the individuals, who were identified as citizens of Myanmar, have been turned over to the police for additional investigation.
