Nirmala Sitharaman's Meghalaya visit kick-starts with focus on youth & urbanization

 

Digital Desk: Beginning on July 10, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's four-day official visit to Meghalaya covered several duties in Shillong.

Out of them were development of urban infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment seemed among the primary points of discussion at the meetings.

During an interactive session of the North East Roundtable under the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS), Sitharaman engaged with interns, industry leaders, and officials from several states in the region, accompanied by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and others.

By providing organized internship opportunities to youth nationwide, especially those from rural areas, the PMIS aims to close the gap between education and employment.

Sitharaman is expected to visit an array of development projects, and meet while meeting with farmers, industry stakeholders, and self-help groups throughout Meghalaya over the following three days, Sitharaman will also have a lookout over the current ongoing schemes.
