No unrest in the Assam-Mizoram border districts ensures DC and SP-level talks
Digital desk: On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Assam Border Kolasib Robert C. Lalhmangaiha, accompanied by district SP David H. Lalthangliana and Cachar DC Mindal Yadav, escorted by district SP N. Mahato, promised to ensure that there is no disruption on either side of the border.
Officials from both border districts met in Cachar DC's conference hall in Silchar and agreed that the joint statement released during minister-level negotiations on the border conflict in Aizawl on August 9 of last year should be maintained.
It was agreed that there should be no conflict and that people should live in harmony on both sides of the border.
Last year's ministerial conference also decided that talks should be held regularly between the DCs and SPs of both states' border districts to improve understanding and coordination between the two.
Officials from the two districts also reviewed several problems, including cooperation across the districts, particularly in light of the approaching village councils in Mizoram on February 12. Kolasib DC. Lalhmangaiha urged his Cachar district counterpart, Yadav, to work together to preserve law and order along the border during polling.
