Northeast is a land of abundance: Nirmala Sitharaman

Digital Desk: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday described the Northeast as a land of abundance, praising the region's people for their warmth, sincerity and cultural richness. She made the remarks while inaugurating the Northeast Conclave at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs campus, located at IIM-Shillong.

Sitharaman’s comments were part of her keynote address at the conclave. It may be mentioned here that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on a four-day visit to Meghalaya.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscored the growing potential for entrepreneurship in the Northeast, citing the region's energetic youth and evolving policy support as key drivers of change.

Sitharaman noted that youngsters today are quickly adapting to global trends and expectations.

She said that the right policy support could create a strong foundation for entrepreneurship to flourish in the Northeast.

She highlighted that the Northeast Conclave plays a crucial role in facilitating dialogue between policymakers, business leaders and young entrepreneurs, aiming to unlock the region’s untapped economic potential.
