Digital desk: Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw spoke virtually with Northeastern media on Monday on the railway development projects included in the Union Budget for 2025–2026. The minister announced a historic boost in financing for the Northeast during the virtual session, allocating a large sum of Rs. 10,440 crores for the construction of railway infrastructure in the region.

With a budget allocation of more than Rs. 2.65 lakh crores for the second consecutive year, Union Minister Vaishnaw said Indian Railways will continue to grow more quickly and provide safer and more enjoyable rail travel throughout the nation.

To better serve the requirements of the lower and middle classes, the Railway Ministry intends to introduce 200 new Vande Bharat trains, 100 Amrit Bharat trains, and 50 Namo Bharat quick trains. Furthermore, the nation's safety will be further improved with the construction of 1,000 new flyovers and underpasses.

Despite the difficult terrain, the minister noted in his speech the continuous advancement of railway projects in the Northeast.
