PM Modi's expected Sikkim visit scheduled for May 16

Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to make history by becoming the first Prime Minister to attend Sikkim’s Statehood Day celebrations as the chief guest on May 16.

This year marks Sikkim's 50th year of statehood, and the occasion will be celebrated with a year-long series of events.

This was informed by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate several key projects aimed at developing Sikkim.

These include the 500-bedded Namchi District Hospital, designed to provide advanced medical care and improve healthcare services in the region.

Other major initiatives include Swarna Jayanthi Maitreya Manjri– a tribute to Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee, the inauguration of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Statue and the inauguration of the Working Women’s Hostel at Tadong.

The visit will mark a historic moment in the state's political journey as Sikkim celebrates its Golden Jubilee since it became the 22nd state of India on May 16, 1975.

To commemorate the milestone, the state government has planned a year-long series of celebrations, with Prime Minister Modi as the chief guest for the occasion.
