RR vs CSK IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals defeat Chennai Super Kings by 6 runs

Digital Desk: In a heart-stopping Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured their first win of the season, edging out Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a slender 6-run margin at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati. The thrilling contest, which went down to the wire, saw RR post a competitive total of 182/9, courtesy of Nitish Rana's explosive 81 off 36 balls.

Rana's blistering knock, laced with 10 fours and 5 sixes, was instrumental in propelling RR to a respectable score. Sanju Samson's quickfire start and Riyan Parag's 37 off 28 balls also contributed significantly to RR's total. 

Despite a late collapse, RR's strong middle-order efforts kept them in the game.

CSK's chase was spearheaded by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who composed 63 off 44 balls, supported by Dube and Jadeja. However, Wanindu Hasaranga's magical spell of 4 wickets for 35 runs turned the game in RR's favor. Hasaranga's scalps included crucial wickets of Tripathi, Dube, Shankar, and Gaikwad, three of which came immediately after sixes off the previous deliveries.

In the final overs, MS Dhoni and Jadeja waged a valiant effort to steer CSK to victory. However, a stunning catch from Hetmyer to dismiss Dhoni and a tight final over from Sandeep Sharma sealed the win for RR.

Overton's late six kept CSK's hopes alive, but it wasn't enough to prevent RR from holding on to their slim advantage.
