Smriti Mandhana bags No.1 spot in ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings

Digital Desk: Smriti Mandhana's half-century against Australia in New Chandigarh on Sunday has put her back at the top of the ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings.

The Indian cricket team's three-match ODI series against the Australians began with this match.

With 58 runs off 63 deliveries, including six fours and two sixes, the left-handed Indian cricketer overtook England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt to take the top spot in the world rankings.

It was Mandhana's 32nd ODI fifty and her fourth time at the top of the rankings, having been there in January 2019 and July of this year.

As per the latest ICC ranking list, Mandhana ranks seventh on the list of all-time women's one-day international run scorers with 4646 runs from 106 ODIs.

She scored four of her eleven ODI hundreds last year, which is the most any batter has ever scored in a single year. In the format, she currently averages 46.46 with a strike rate of 87.87.

The 29-year-old cricket player will make her third appearance at the prestigious ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 as India's vice-captain. She played for the team that placed second in 2017 and again in 2022.

Smriti Mandhana is ranked third in the batting rankings for women's T20 cricket, the format that will be played at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles as the sport returns to the Games.
