Specially abled woman gang raped in UP’s Balrampur, two arrested in connection

Digital Desk: A 21-year-old deaf and mute woman (Victim) was reportedly gang-raped after being chased by males on bikes in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur on 11th August.

CCTV footage caught the woman fleeing for her life on a secluded road, passing a senior police officer's home. According to police reports, the survivor was kidnapped and assaulted.

The two people were recently detained after an encounter with UP police. The victim's family alleges it was a gang rape, and the hospital confirms the incident.

A manhunt is underway for the other individuals involved, as claimed by the victim, "the victim clearly claims that's a gang rape." Bringing it into the light, the incident occurred in a neighborhood near the homes of prominent government officials.

On Monday evening, the victim was on her way home to her maternal uncle's house in Balrampur district. The woman was kidnapped and carried to a lonely field, where the two males took turns raping the victim.

Due to her disability, the woman was unable to call for assistance.

With a concerned state of mind, the parents got worried as the woman did not return home after an hour. Her family began looking for her, and they discovered her in a strange condition in a field near a police station.

The woman was brought to the district women's hospital, where she is receiving treatment now. Moreover, the doctors say she is stable, but in shock.

The woman's family claims that the occurrence occurred due to negligence. The family stated that three to four CCTV cameras in the area were turned off.

However, a camera mounted near the Superintendent of Police's residence captured the woman fleeing and bikers pursuing her.

The cops were able to track down the rapists thanks to a 14-second video. Multiple CCTV cameras have been placed across districts as part of Uttar Pradesh's Operation Trinetra to boost surveillance and law enforcement.
