Train services disrupted in Dima Hasao, Guwahati-Silchar Express remains stranded

Digital Desk: Train services along the Mupa and Diyakhu hill sections of Dima Hasao district were halted on July 6 due to additional landslides.

The disruption has hampered traffic along the hilly route, with the 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express currently stuck at Lumding Railway Station.

The landslides, caused by heavy rain, have left the track inaccessible, delaying rail travel for many hours.

According to officials, railway authorities have already begun restoration efforts to clear debris and restore the damaged tracks. Despite these efforts, there is no official word on when normal service will resume.

Many people have been left stranded at Lumding, resulting in extreme crowding at the station. The situation remains tense, as the return of services is uncertain.

Senior officials from the Lumding Railway Division are said to have arrived by train at the impacted site to assess the extent of the damage and oversee restoration efforts.

Railway officials have pleaded for endurance, noting that safety is still the first priority. However, no firm timeframe for the hill section's reopening has been offered as yet.
