Tripura: Assam Rifles in Joint Ops with customs seized Yaba tablets valued ₹24Cr

Digital Desk: Assam Rifles in collaboration with Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated 2,40,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹24 crore in Tripura in two consecutive days.

On February 26, 2025, a joint Assam Rifles and Customs squad intercepted unclaimed baggage aboard Train No. 12098 (Shatabdi Express) at Ambassa, Tripura, based on particular intelligence.

A detailed investigation resulted in the recovery of 1,50,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹15 crore on the overseas market. The recovered contraband was handed over to Customs for further legal action.

Another coordinated operation with DRI took place on February 27 in Teliamura, Tripura, where a joint squad stopped a goods truck (No. TR 01 AU 1710) carrying cement bags from Shillong. Nine hundred thousand Yaba tablets, valued at ₹9 crore, were found during the check.

One inhabitant of Belonia, South Tripura, was also taken into custody. DRI received the seized person and the recovered contraband for additional legal action.

The state government's goal of creating a Nasha Mukt Tripura is in line with the Assam Rifles' continuous efforts to fight drug trafficking, which includes these successful interdictions.

The Assam Rifles have notably carried out 21 successful operations since January 2025, recovering contraband valued at ₹95.56 crore.
