Uttar Pradesh: Tensions in Fatehpur over religious site claim

Digital Desk: A tense situation unfolded at Abu Nagar under Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday after members of Hindu organisations, including Bajrang Dal, gathered near an old tomb, claiming the structure to be a temple and demanding permission to offer prayers there.

Several individuals, including protesters from the Bajrang Dal, entered the premises of the disputed structure and were seen striking parts of it with sticks.

Police personnel, already deployed in the area, intervened to prevent further damage and maintain order.

Ravindra Singh, the district magistrate of Fatehpur, gave his assurance that everything was under control.

Meanwhile, police remain stationed at the location to prevent any further escalation.
