Vande Bharat Express to improve connectivity between Agartala and Guwahati; Tripura CM Manik Saha puts effort

Digital Desk: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has publicly asked Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to launch the Vande Bharat Express train service between Agartala, the state capital, and Guwahati, Assam.

The project aims to create a faster, more efficient, and comfortable travel option between the two cities, thereby considerably improving regional connectivity and strengthening economic, social, and cultural links between the two states.

Saha, in a recent meeting with Minister Vaishnaw in New Delhi, emphasized the critical need to upgrade and modernize railway infrastructure in the northeastern region, which has long suffered connectivity issues.

The chief minister advocated for the commencement of various railway development projects in Tripura, intending to modernize the state's transportation system to satisfy the growing demands of both locals and visitors.

During the meeting at Rail Bhawan, Saha and Vaishnaw addressed an array of duties, including the launch of the high-speed Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati.

The chief minister also urged for the establishment of additional critical rail services, such as an intercity train between Agartala and Guwahati and local trains between Dharmanagar and Sabroom.

Saha covered major railway projects in Tripura, such as the Jirania-Bodhjungnagar route and the Dharmanagar-Kailashar line.

He also planned a Kishan Rail service between Agartala and Guwahati. Once implemented, the Vande Bharat Express is projected to greatly improve the region's rail travel experience while also stimulating the local economy.

Manik Saha also met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss the development of educational institutions in Tripura, including the proposal to upgrade Women's College and Tripura Institute of Technology.
