Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigns
Digital Desk: In a sudden and unexpected move, Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned as the Vice President of India, effective immediately.
The 74-year-old announced his decision after chairing the first day of the Monsoon Session as Rajya Sabha Chairman, citing the need to prioritize his healthcare.
"To prioritize healthcare and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution," Dhankhar wrote in his letter of resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.
Following Dhankhar's resignation, Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh will manage the day-to-day affairs until a new Vice-President is elected.
