West Indies (Wk) Nicholas Pooran Quits All Forms Of International Cricket

Digital Desk: West Indies wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran, the best T20 batter in the game presently, shocked the cricket fraternity on Monday night when he announced his retirement from international cricket in all three formats.

Pooran's decision comes only days after South African wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen, another shortest-format star, announced his retirement from international cricket.

While Pooran hopes to continue playing franchise cricket, his decision has purists questioning the sport's future on the international stage.

Pooran posted on Instagram about his decision, "After much thought and reflection, I've decided to announce my retirement from international cricket."

He continued, "This game we love has given and will continue to give so much - joy, purpose, unforgettable memories, and a chance to represent the people of the West Indies."

Pooran, 29, leaves the game as the most capped West Indian in T20 International history. The wicket-keeper batter has worn the maroon shirt in 106 matches and is the team's leading T20I run-scorer with 2,275 runs.
