Zubeen Fans Worry Manager Siddharth May Profit from Garg’s Music Royalties
Digital Desk: A great loss for the state, a day has passed after the legend Zubeen Garg was laid to rest, but fans seem to be unrest as Siddharth Sharma, Zubeen Garg's manager, may continue to earn crores in royalties each year from the songs that millions of fans listen to on platforms including as YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, and others.
According to sources, the rights to these songs are owned by Zubeen Garg Music LLP (LLPIN - AAZ 5718), which has two designated directors: Zubeen Garg and his manager Siddharth Sharma (DIN 09409035).
According to industry estimates, payouts per stream range between 30 and 40 paise internationally and roughly 10 paise in India. Following Zubeen's untimely death, streaming numbers are projected to skyrocket, resulting in a considerable increase in revenues.
Although Spotify uses a revenue-sharing arrangement and Assam is classified as a low-revenue region, Zubeen's large fan base in India and overseas secures significant earnings.
While no one disputes that Zubeen's family deserves every penny of this money, fans are outraged that his manager, Siddharth, who is accused of incompetence and apathy during Zubeen's final moments, stands to benefit financially from his involvement in the LLP.
It is unknown to the public what the precise terms and ownership percentages of the LLP agreement are. It is believed, meanwhile, that Siddharth may have obtained royalties for himself.
Zubeen's family has been asked by internet users to examine the agreement, take the requisite legal action, and, if necessary, dissolve the LLP in order to prevent the iconic singer's hard-earned money from ending up in the wrong hands.
